Iranian ‘Maned & Macho’ wins Italian award

Iranian animation ‘Maned & Macho’ wins award at the 3rd Animavi Int'l Film Festival of Poetic Animation in Italy.

Iranian short animation ‘Maned & Macho’ has won an award at the 3rd edition of the Animavi International Film Festival of Poetic Animation in Italy.

The Iranian animated titled won the main award of the Italian event along with a Belgian flick.

Directed by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi, the short animation is about a girl’s repressed emotions and instincts, which are embodied in some animals that come out of her dreams. However, no one in her family is receptive to these animals.

The 11-minute ‘Maned & Macho’ has so far attended a number of international film events, including the 41st Göteborg Film Festival in Sweden, the 47th Giffoni International Film Festival in Italy, and the 35th Busan International Short Film Festival in South Korea.

The 56th Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, the 28th Cinequest Film Festival in the US, the 30th Filmfest Dresden – International Short Film Festival in Germany, and the 18th MONSTRA Lisbon Animated Film Festival in Portugal have been the other hosts of the animation so far.

A lineup of 16 films from countries such as China, Egypt, Belgium, Poland, France, Denmark, South Africa, Canada, Russia, Germany, the US, Croatia, and Switzerland went on the screen at the 3rd Animavi.

The Animavi represents artistic animation and poetry in cinema internationally; the kind of independent art house animation whose narration tools are charm and fascination.

It is a showcase for the most interesting trend in animation, only showing works that go straight to the heart of the audience – films in which every single frame is already conceived to be small work of art.

The 3rd edition of the Animavi International Film Festival of Poetic Animation was held on July 11-15, 2018.
